Rodent Prevention in Salt Lake City

The goal is not simply to cover a visible hole. It is to reduce access without overlooking active animals or the building's needs.

Inspect the building envelope with a purpose

Doors, vents, penetrations and damaged edges can be part of an exclusion assessment. Ask what evidence supports each proposed repair and which areas remain inaccessible. A scope should distinguish observed openings from unverified assumptions.

Materials need to suit the gap and the surrounding construction. Repairs must preserve ventilation and drainage. Issues involving wiring, plumbing or structural damage may require another qualified contractor.

Sequence repairs with removal

Active rodents inside change the timing of exclusion. Discuss how animals will be removed and how results will be monitored before suspected routes are closed. A repair alone does not clear an occupied space.

The mouse-control and rat-removal guides cover those treatment questions. The provider should make the connection explicit in the written plan.

Address resources, not just openings

Secure accessible food, rubbish, pet food and birdseed. Reduce clutter that creates shelter or prevents inspection. Check for water issues that require repair. The practical priorities should come from conditions at the property rather than a generic checklist of things you do not have.

The CDC's rodent-control information explains the role of food, water, shelter and access. Sanitation supports exclusion but does not replace it.

Define the follow-up and warranty

Ask whether repair checks are included and how fresh activity should be reported. Keep a record of the work and its limits. A warranty on specific repairs may not cover new damage or every future rodent.
